The people of Ososo have varieties of cultural festivals ranging from Itakpo, Owah, Unehe, Okienhe, and lots more guided by traditions being the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation and the fact of being passed on in this way.
Ososo traditions are inherited, established and customary pattern of thought, action and behavior contributing a sense of comfort and belonging.
They reinforces values such as freedom, faith, integrity, a good education, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic, and the value of being selfless.
In Ososo, the traditions enables us to showcase the principles of our Founding Fathers, celebrate diversity, and get united as community.
Observing the festivals offers an excellent context for meaningful pause and reflection on ones life and origin.
The values and uniqueness of Ososo cultural festivals cannot not be told as they are pleasant to seeing and hearing; bringing comfort to mind and soul, beholding the intriguing mindset of individual and group fascinating the taste for culture and cultural relativism.
One would long for continual engagement seeing the acts of Ososo traditional festivals and the beautiful traditional attires, relatively the general costumes.
On Itakpo festival, It is celebrated every seven years by each of the four quarters (ab initio) in Ososo namely Anni, Egbetua, Okhe and lkpena.
“Itakpo festival is patriarchal age-grade initiation, a moment of graduation from boyhood to manhood; it is an elevation to the elder’s assembly in the society (Ososo).
“It marks the end of the youthful milestone and years of service, labour, and protection of the community and is also the gateway to joining the critical decision-making body of the community,” - Afemikhe.
The 2023/2024 edition is presently being held, holding onto its values and strengths.
